Liverpool transfers: Nathaniel Clyne would be great signing, says ex-Red

Former Liverpool defender Rob Jones says he would welcome the signing of Southampon right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

Nathaniel Clyne would be a great addition to the Liverpool squad, according to Rob Jones.

The Merseyside outfit have emerged as front-runners to sign theSouthampton defender after the right-back had been previously tipped to join Manchester United.
The 24-year-old has managed to break into Roy Hodgson’s England squad thanks to his impressive performances for Southampton over the past season.
And retired Liverpool right-back Jones believes Clyne would solve a problem position for Brendan Rodgers after Glen Johnson left the Reds at the end of the season.
“There is a lot of talk about Clyne. He would be a great addition. I don’t know how close it is. We definitely need to strengthen that position,” Jones told The Sport Review.
Clyne scored two goals in 35 Premier League appearances for the south coast club over the course of the 2014/15 campaign.
The Southampton defender has racked up 104 games for the Saints following his move to St Mary’s from Crystal Palace in 2012.
The Liverpool target made his England debut in a 3-1 victory over Slovenia at Wembley in November last year.
