Manchester United are prepared to take advantage of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos’ contract issues by making a move for the Spain international, according to Daily Star Sunday.
The 29-year-old has two years left on his contract at the Bernabeu but is reportedly unwilling to hold talks on extending his current deal at the club.
Los Blancos are believed to be unprepared to meet the £10million-a-year wage demands Ramos is holding out for.
The centre-half believes he is one of the world’s best defenders, meaning he should be earning more than he currently is at the club.
The impasse has not gone unnoticed at Manchester United. The Red Devils are actively searching for a new central defender this summer, and the £20 million they would have to spend on Ramos makes him an attractive and affordable option.
United boss Louis van Gaal led the Old Trafford outfit to a fourth-placed finish and Champions League qualification last season in his first year at the club.
