Manchester City have entered the chase for Arsenal linked Colombian forward Jackson Martinez with real purpose.
Despite Arsenal’s long term interest in the player, AC Milan have been doing all the running over the last few days to reach an agreement with FC Porto for the transfer of Martinez.
AC Milan CEO Adrian Galliani flew across to Portugal earlier this week to meet Porto officials and the Italians are believed to be ready to pay his €35m release clause to prise him away from the club.
However, the Rossoneri are set to face a daunting challenge in the form of Manchester City as according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the English giants have also entered the chase for Martinez.
Manchester City are said to be ready to offload either Edin Dzeko or Steven Jovetic this summer and want the Porto hitman as a replacement at the Etihad.
While the Rossoneri are prepared to pay the release clause, the club are keen to pay the figure in installments, however, Manchester City are believed to be ready to pay the full figure in one go.
The Premier League side are also ready to offer a better pay package to Martinez than AC Milan but the Rossoneri are hoping that the promise of regular first team football might still clinch the deal for them.
