But reports in Germany claim the Bundesliga side have dropped a big hint Hummels could be on his way this summer.
Long-term Manchester United target, Mat Hummels could well be on his way to the EPL this summer as his German club dropped the biggest hint. Hummel, who is one of the most highly-rated defenders in the German Bundesliga, would however, attract a huge transfer fee, which might not be a problem for United.
According to reports coming out from Germany, Borussia Dortmund have refused to sell young centre-back Matthias Ginter to Borussia Monchengladbach, which has sparked up suspicions that the former Bundesliga champions are preparing for life after Hummels.
Though, the German club has a lot of options to replace Hummels if he does eventually leave for United; the fact that they have refused to sanction the sale of Ginter further fuels the rumour that they are preparing for life after their highly rated defender. Ginter only started nine matches in the Bundesliga last season; and allowing him to leave for another club wouldn’t have affected the club’s plans if Dortmund were not already planning to sell Hummels.
When asked if the 21-year old will be sold this summer, Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc responded this way: “We did not have any case the intention to let him go.”
Though, not much has been said about Hummels to United since the current window opened, this recent statement made by Zorc is bound trigger various rumours about the player’s next
