According to recent reports from the Daily Mail, Dick Advocaat and his new Sunderland outfit have apparently launched an ambitious £8 million bid to land Dynamo Kiev’s 27-year-old striker, Jeremain Lens.
The Dutchman would arguably act as a perfect fit within the Stadium of Light next season, for as the powerful front-man has previously worked with the current Sunderland boss at PSV in the past, Advocaat and Lens could seemingly reignite their previous partnership to great success in the Premier League next term.
The player himself is reportedly keen on ending his spell in Ukraine in favour of trying his hand in the English top flight in 2015/16. With Sunderland dramatically experiencing a severe lack of output in the goal-scoring department last term, Jeremain Lens will potentially be tasked with addressing that problem for the Black Cats next season – even if other striking options nonetheless remain open for Advocaat ahead of the new campaign.
As Sunderland have seemingly put their money where their mouth is with this latest £8 million bid however, perhaps the struggling Premier League club have made the Netherlands international their top priority this summer, with the hope that a positive payback on their investment with come around next season.
